Goodbye individual state rights.
Well... eventually.
I didn't think there were so many stupid people in Missouri.

Birth is the only jubilant end To one life being shared with another. Not so joyous is the letting go that comes after. No one told me what...

Okay, so... I'm a couple of edits away from self-publishing my first novel. However, I need to figure out some stuff with the cover art....

So, the other day, I offically sold my first piece of writing. This excites me to no end. It wasn't much, and I didn't get paid too ...

I am hoping and praying that this amendment will be repealed. I blame the deceptiveness of the lawyers who put it together. I don't think it's that people were stupid as much as fooled into all the stem-cell cure hype.
I don't know about that, really. The actual amendment is public domain... anyone can read it. I'm pretty sure that if more people HAD read it, it wouldn't have passed.
Yes it was public domain but when you read it it bans anyone from cloning a human being for any purpose. The ballot reads this way also.
They paid millions and millions for lawyers to make it purposefully tricky and for spokesmen to continue to perpetuate the confusion.
I personally would have voted YES if I didn't have a structure to reveal the problem (the Church). To me, it would be just one issue among many and it looked like a good one (ban cloning, get cures, yay!).
It bans reproductive cloning in the sense that you cannot clone a full human being from an embryonic stem cell, you are correct. However, it says nothing of the fact that you must create a new embryo-- and destroy that embryo in order to actually carry out any stem-cell research. Even the legal jargon of the amendment was deceptive, but anyone with a grasp on biology, reproductive sciences, or the cell cycle could see through it. It's just a shame that Missourians didn't figure it out before voting.
"anyone with a grasp on biology, reproductive sciences, or the cell cycle could see through it."
You have too much confidence in the general public.
Just watch, the first child cloned and gestated to fruition will be born with no soul. It will grow up being inhabitted by a number of demons, run for president with the Dem. party and become the first woman president. People will not take note of the hideous goiter and cankles because she will be ANTI-CHRIST! Hey... it could happen.
^lol
I had a friend who got a similar idea from, if I remember right, the 700 club. That a cloned-no soul-demonicly possessed-human would be the anti-Christ.
700 club? NO! I don't believe it! You mean to tell me they came up with a crazy conspiracy theory? ...Did they ask for a love donation afterwards? 'Cause if they did, that makes the story totally believable.
;)
